Guided tour of Tijuana

A very informative day with Mario. Departing San Diego, crossing the border to Tijuana, first stop was the Tijuana Cultural Centre. Then onto the beach and Trumps Wall. After a wander around then onto Avenida Revolucion. Be prepared to see zebra donkeys, locals and tourists. Next stop is lunch, tacos, yum. Then onto a city market before heading back across the border to California. A good taste of Mexico, highly recommend if you are short of time. I did the tour as a solo female traveller and Mario made sure I felt safe and looked after at wach stop.

Tijuana City Tour

I 100% totally recommend Mario & his tours. Myself & my 3 teenage children from Australia had originally booked a similar tour with another tour company who did not show at our accommodation to pick us up or answer my phone calls. Within 30mins of calling Mario he was at our accommodation and we were on our own private tour to Tijuana. He was so warm, welcoming, reassuring and a wealth of knowledge!! We all loved the tour immensely. Thank you Mario!!!! You are a champion!!

Tijuana Day tour

What a fabulous day! It could not have been better. We got to see and do so much in such a short space of time.
Mario was fantastic, his knowledge of the history of Mexico and his ability to engage and tell the story really made the visit to the Cultural Centre so interesting and engaging. The mix of history and experience of visiting the markets, the seaside where the infamous wall ends, the authentic Mexican tacos for lunch, craft beer tasting and visit to the place where the Caesar Salad was invented all gave a wonderful well rounded taste of Mexico.
This trip with Mario in particular is highly recommended.

Birthday trip to Ensenada!

Mario was very informative and pleasant to have as our tour guide to Ensenada! We were delighted to have a fun couple on the tour with us to enjoy my birthday! We stopped at a great restaurant in Ensenada and then went on our way to shopping! He was very patient as we stopped along the way for extensive shopping! The Hussongs bar was interesting and so was the church. The winery was beautiful and had nice wine. A great sunset! I would recommend that you not go there hungry because they only have very small appetizers. Be aware that the trip back over the border takes a very long time. A two hour wait! Mario takes a lot of nice pictures of the group and videos too. A fun time had by all!

TOP NOTCH TRIP AND TOP NOTCH GUIDE TO TECATE

Mario offered us an excellent tour visiting some highlights of Tecate, a short day trip from San Diego. We had a private behind the scenes tour of a popular bakery in town. Then a short drive to Rancho Tecate where we drove through some spectacular mountainous scenery with large boulders. We even saw an amazing waterfall marking the southern edge of the Colorado River. Next a fantastic lunch while watching an entertaining horse show at Rancho Tecate...a great combination. Our lunch included a poblano chile soup ...one of the tastiest soups ever...plus delicious ceviche...a tasty meat and veggie dish...and an artistic dessert prepared table-side...every morsel of every course was mouthwatering. And after that a wonderful private wine tasting in a beautiful wine cellar.

To top it all off, Mario served as photographer for us all day long and sent us some beautiful photos and videos to remember our visit. He is also an excellent driver....very important. Overall he did a a terrific job...and we all had a great day...highly recommended...deserves a 10 star review!!!

Just remember to bring along your passports!

Excellent Tour Operator

Mario led an excellent tour to Tecate and Tecate Ranch. We had a very good tour of the central square and visited an incredible panadería for a morning snack and tour of the baking areas led by the owner. Then on to Rancho Tecate for an overall tour, and lunch while watching an impressive horseback riding demonstration. Mario is 100% bilingual and provided excellent explanations / translations.

Tecate Pueblo Mágico with "Guia Mágico"

Ten friends booked a private tour of Tecate and environs. Four of us had traveled to the Valle of Guadalupe before with super guide Mario, so we had high expectations. Our expectations were not merely met, but EXCEEDED. There were all the promised events, plus many pleasing surprises, like a behind-the-scenes visit to the famous bakery, a trek to an amazing waterfall on Rancho Tecate, and the absurdly elegant setting for our tastings of mezcal, tequila and wine! Both leading up to our outing, and especially throughout the day, Mario was unfailingly kind, courteous, informative, and attentive. An example of his consideration was asking about dietary preferences ahead of time, and arranging that the place where we enjoyed a fantastic lunch had a special meal for the vegan traveling with us. AND he drove very carefully on rain-slicked roads on our way home. We are all looking forward to our next trip!

Mario gets Six Stars again!

This is the second time I go on tour with Mario from Baja California Wine Tours.
Once again the impeccable service and attention to detail in Mario´s tour leads me to award six star rating to him and his company. This time around I asked Mario to put together a two day tour for my group of eight. We wanted to do more of Tijuana, Puerto Nuevo and Ensenada since the first time Mario took us to wine country. So based in my request, Mario put together an amazing itinerary that included amazing restaurants, cultural museums, beach, sailing, and lots of sightseeing and learning about Baja. Oh! and food... lots of traditional Mexican food!
Mario having been born in Mexico and lived in Baja for many years, is the perfect guide and a true local who will fill your trip with amazing and very interesting information about his beautiful country. Mario is also very funny highly educated, and he knows everyone, but must importantly he is professional and very pleasing. Whenever we wanted to add an extra stop here and there Mario was always ok with it.
On day one, we spent the day visiting Tijuana, Rosarito and Puerto Nuevo. We visited the CECUT cultural museum and botanical gardens and we got to see the "Voladores de Papantla" perform at the square of the museum. We ate delicious food of all kinds and drank craft beer at "La Telefonica Food Garden & Brewery". We shopped at the curios stands all along Revolution Ave. in TJ and tried the original Cesar´s Restaurant where it was invented. Then we did some more shopping and tried tacos at "Mercado Hidalgo" where all locals purchase their food. And then we went to Rosarito. We enjoyed the beach and horse back riding. Had some tequilas at "El Nido" and more beer at "Papas & Beer beach club". Our final stop on day one, was Puerto Nuevo where we ate the most amazing lobster accompanied by mango margaritas and live music played by local mariachis!
Then Mario dropped us off at our hotel in Ensenada. The next day we have the morning buffet at the hotel and by 10:30 am we headed to the marina where our yacht was waiting for us to sail away. On our three our cruise around the bay of Ensenada we had the chance to do some fishing, drink refreshing cocktail, lay out on the deck sunbathing and even did some swimming in the ocean. We were served ceviche tostadas and fine champagne. After our incredible voyage around the bay we went in town to check out Husong´s Cantina and listen to more live mariachi. Mario kept everything in order and made sure everyone was accounted for and made sure we always were taken care of. Before heading back home, we stopped at a local chocolate factory in Ensenada.
The whole two day trip was flawless thanks to Mario who is the man!! Best tour guide I have ever met and I wouldn´t go to any other company having met Mario. I highly recommended him and his company Baja California Wine Tours!
